China’s state-backed Global Times has accused Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei of using AI safety to justify containing China’s technological progress. Its September 13, 2026, commentary branded his proposal a “Cold War playbook,” and China’s Foreign Ministry criticized the argument on September 14.
