Apple says its new HomeView smart display can recognize up to six people by face and give each a personalized screen for messages, calls, calendars, and reminders. Alongside touchscreen controls for lights, HomeView brings household members’ personal information to a shared device.
The surrounding lineup arrives with different AI capabilities. HomeView is announced with Siri AI built in, the new Apple TV 4K offers Siri AI in beta, and HomePod mini 2 gets its new assistant through a future software update.
Together, these AI products, announced on October 13, 2026, form a coordinated expansion of Apple’s home platform. Buyers still need to separate the hardware calendar from the software calendar and check regional availability.
HomeView Makes a Household Screen Personal
HomeView combines a 7-inch Liquid Retina display, audio, FaceTime, entertainment apps, and smart-home controls. Apple offers a tabletop version with a speaker base and tilting display, alongside a separate wall-mounted model supported by Schneider Home mounting options.
The more consequential feature is how the interface changes for different people. Apple says HomeView recognizes up to six household members and presents each person’s apps and widgets. Shared photo albums and music remain available to the household, including guests.
Information becomes simpler when viewed across a room and more detailed as someone approaches. That suits a device expected to serve as both an ambient household screen and an interface someone actively uses.
Siri AI has two distinct levels of capability:
- Without an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad, HomeView still offers conversational responses, broad world knowledge, and improved music discovery.
- With a compatible iPhone or iPad, Apple says Siri AI can draw on personal context and take actions across apps, including surfacing relevant information from Messages and Calendar.
Facial recognition determines whose experience appears on the display; pairing with a compatible personal device supplies the context needed for more individualized assistance. Buying HomeView does not automatically give every household member the same personal-context features.
Apple says conversations can continue in the Siri app on other Apple devices through iCloud-synced history. HomeView is intended to be a shared entry point into each person’s assistant, not a separate household account that everyone must use.
